Abstrakt
17 sierpnia 1991 Polska została włączona w światową siec Internetu. Stało się to na Wydziale Fizyki Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego przy wykorzystaniu fizycznego łącza z Centrum Informatycznego Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego do Uniwersytetu w Kopenhadze. Było to możliwe, ponieważ Wydział Fizyki UW posiadał jako pierwszy w kraju siec Internetowa zbudowana w ramach grantu badawczego COCOS. Zespołem COCOS kierował Roman Szwed, a członkiem zespołu, który bezpośrednio dokonał konfiguracji i podłączenia krajowego węzła do światowego Internetu był Rafał Pietrak.
Abstract
On August 17 1991, Poland was included in the global Internet network. It happened at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw, using the physical link from the University of Warsaw IT Center to the University of Copenhagen. It became possible because the Faculty of Physics was the ûrst in the country to have an Internet network built under the COCOS research grant. The COCOS team was led by Roman Szwed, and Rafał Pietrak was a member of the team that directly configured and connected the national node to the global Internet.
